Expect Nothing, Stay Happy

Posted by admin in Marketing Tips

If there is one thing that is very hard to maintain online is integrity and honesty.

And also patience..

Patience in waiting for those sales to fly in.

Hoping that you do not get so frustrated that you close up shop and never venture online again.

We all go through this every now and then. The frustration sets in and you just don’t know what to do.

We all learn through various methods how to get started online but there are a few things that people don’t teach you.

Normally when you look at other ways to make a profit, the first thing most people do is to go to those sites and publishers who they believe can steer them in the right direction.

But then you start to see certain sales tactics that you become hip to and wonder why they do it in the first place.

Some are ethical and some are not.
The legality is not the issue, but it does raise a few moral eyebrows.

Although I am sure it is billed as a good sales tool, what I get tired of seeing sometimes are the ezines that start out by giving you a good speech about changing your life and making money and to not fall for the hype, and it all ends with a link to some new ebook or a new private site.

As if that is supposed to be the answer to all your business and financial problems.

It is at that point that I think to myself, ” did this publisher even care about me in the first place to actually give me free advice or is it

“FREE WITH A CATCH MARKETING “

Oh I see what you want. Sucker me into thinking you really have the fix for a great business online when you are just trying to sell an ebook or a course.

Now of course one of the main goals in a free ezine is to hopefully generate an income through advertising and other forms of back end sales

But at what cost.

I grow tired of some people telling me this is THE book for you when last month you were telling me about another book that was THE ONE.

Remember of course the one has to be an ebook priced at least $90 so they can get a great commission from it.

No one says you are not supposed to sell ebooks, I have sold enough in my days, but it is just the way you present yourself.

I know that there are marketing methods out there that I have not even begun to understand but I understand common sense and that alone knocks out a lot of the so called marketing methods.

I know from a stand point, anyone who has been online for less than 2 years is a Newbie and they prey on this.

I don’t like that method, thinking we are too stupid to figure out the basics.

Now I do feel that you should learn the basics of human behavior to understand the psychology of why people buy and what helps them to buy. People do buy on emotions and it just depends on how bad you want to play on that factor.

Just as when you are looking to see what is wrong with a person, you have to look at their background ( childhood) first before any assumptions are made.

That is just plain old business common sense right there. But I am not talking about that but the whole concept of :

“You are too stupid to know why I am selling you this over hyped book which contains nothing more than a bunch of fancy words and still no real help”

I can’t tell you that the money is in the list and then expect you to just figure out how to start a newsletter.

I can’t tell you to join every high paying commission affiliate program and then not tell you how to market the site.

I can’t tell you that this book will make you rich when all it may do is lead you down a path that you didn’t want to take in the first place. ( We have all been there, you wanted to sell some teddy bears online, next thing you know you are members of a bunch of forced matrix programs that have nothing to do with your original purpose)

I know most of us want an easy way of living so they assume that they can find it online.

Remember a lot of these “experts” became that way years ago when no one knew any better. No one knew about spam, pyramid schemes, and other cons, so it was easy back then.

When there was free web hosting, free internet service, free everything.

Now folks are trying to make us pay to send email. It has become a mad rush to grab everyone’s attention because the next month our brains will no longer have an interest.

NOW I SEE THE PROBLEM

Remember in the beginning, you have all your morals and ethics intact and they are not changing.

6 months down the line, you are getting discouraged and you start to look at those other programs you were not going to get into.

12 months down the line, you are running yourself ragged trying to build a downline.

18 months later, you wonder, what the heck am I doing.

I am still broke, and I can’t figure out where I went wrong.

But all your morals and ethics flew out the door about 9 months ago and you didn’t even realize it.

There is nothing wrong with reading ebooks, eCourses, or any other type of help to get you started online

But do not expect it to solve your problems.

EXPECT NOTHING, STAY HAPPY

Instead of complaining about how many people DID NOT sign up for your ezine this week, be grateful for those that DID sign up.

Instead of complaining of low traffic, low sales, be grateful for what you DID get.

Am I established?? Some big marketer going around buying flashy cars, and going on expensive trips.

Oh please I am just getting started.

Even after a year and a half I am still learning the ropes.

I still have my no sales days like everyone else.

But this gives me a chance to take care of things that I wouldn’t have the chance to do when everything is hectic.

Like they always say.. Everything happens for a reason.

Don’t try to figure it out just stick to your goals.

THINK BEFORE YOU SPEAK AND WATCH YOUR BACK

Now here is a topic you don’t hear about much often. As with any business, there is always competition and competition is rough out there.

It can get pretty cut throat at times.

Remember in the office when you had an idea to tell the boss but you told your co-worker and they in turn took the idea to your boss before you had a chance to even print out your proposal.

Same thing online.

WATCH YOUR BACK ON DISCUSSION LISTS, CHAT ROOMS, MESSAGE BOARDS

You never know who is reading. Remember most of these forums are public forums. Just because you don’t see that person post doesn’t mean they are not reading.

I have seen people talk all types of trash about others on these boards only to see their same words come back to haunt them later on. Be careful

Don’t be so quick to throw names with situations

Don’t be so quick to respond to certain sticky situations, it comes back to haunt you in the worst ways.

This isn’t like in high school, if you talked trash, kids were waiting for you at 3 o’clock in the playground ( Hey I’m from Brooklyn, it’s a New York thing)

Well now they wait to get you where it hurts, your business, and therefore your pockets.

False spam complaints
Server Issues
Stealing Customers

You know… the business version of Backbiting.

Because we are online, our words count for our reputation, our business, our livelihood. You are judged by your words first, everything else comes second.

Remember that the next time you want to:

Trash a competitor
Develop a new product or service
Reveal information about yourself that can give someone access to your accounts and your pc.

It still takes a lot for me to trust anyone, sending a few emails back and forth does not mean that you are now my buddy and you should have access to my business deals. The ones that I trust I have known for years, so just keep certain things to yourself no matter what.

THE ONLY TRUE PERSON STOPPING YOU IS YOU

If you want something done, you are going to have to rely on yourself

DIG DEEP DOWN to find the strength to continue.

When another day goes by without a sale and you are ready to seriously just cash in your chips and bow out, hold tight

DIG DEEP Within Yourself And Pull Yourself Up.

No one can do it but you.

No one knows what you really want but you, so who is going to help you first and foremost. you

Of course you should have a great support network of friends and family who are there to help you and guide you.

Not those who are happy to see you fail.

Those are the toxic people you need to avoid.

So for all my online friends who are always there to help me and to pick me up when I am down, thank you.

Trust me when I tell you I get to the point sometimes where I am ready to just completely throw the towel in and just accept failure and stand still.

To accept failure is to stand still in your emotions and goals.

Me, nope sorry I will never stand still, no matter how hard it seems.

EXPECT NOTHING, STAY HAPPY!

A Superbowl Victory

Most people watched the Superbowl out of shear
entertainment, while taking it quite seriously at the same
time. It gives their fans a sense of comradary and
pride. There’s nothing like a football game to unite people.
Most of them know the rules inside and out and can make
the calls quicker than the announcer. This leaves me
asking, if so many people can understand this game, why
don’t they know God’s rule book of plays in their own lives?

If more people would put that amount of time and effort that
it takes to memorize all the players’ statistics, why then can’t
they learn the statistics that God has given us for our own
good? It’s very clear that when we learn the proper plays in
life as we go up against the opposing team, we will be more
than just conquerors, we will be victorious! Everyone loves
to have a victory in their life but do little about it.

As the game started out, the Sea Hawks won the kick off
and got their first 3 points. I’m not saying that the Sea
Hawks are the enemy, they aren’t, but in God’s world, we all
have a very real enemy called Satan. He opposses us at
every play. Once he gets his foot in the door, or his first 3
points, it’s almost impossible from keeping him from
coming all the way in…unless you know what your game
plan will be to keep that from happening. Fortuneatly for the
Steelers, they did know what to do.

The thing about the Steelers is, not one player acted any
better than anyone else. In fact, they all pulled their weight
and then some. They pulled together. When pride enters
into our lives, the enemy will use that to beat us down. So
through team effort, the Steelers came back with a 7 point
touchdown and the game just proceeded from there to the
Steelers advantage. The Sea Hawks could not over take
them after that. But they tried valiantly, just as Satan will do
to us. He will use stronger stradegies and hit harder.

In our Christian lives, we need to know without a doubt how
we are going to oppose our enemy from taking the game
over. Remember; just keep focused!

First of all, as we are new to this walk this is where we need
to get all the practice we can get, we are still rookies. It’s
these rookies that Satan is waiting to recruit back to his
team. If you don’t stay strong in your game, you will be
traded back to him before you know what happened. As any
football player knows, his skills and knowledge comes from
alot of time and effort put into it, until they know it inside out.
It’s no different for Christians who want to be at the top of
their game either. Since God’s Word can be overwhelming
at first, we need to gather together with other Christians
regularly to learn and to grow. That is why God gives us our
coaches. They spur us on, they make us understand the
plays to our advantage. The end result is to realize that all
of our training is to honor God. The Steelers wanted to make
their city of Pittsburgh proud of them also.

If you are serious about being a team player for God, you
have to recognize the authority of Christ as your leader. You
have to learn to humble yourself and serve Him by serving
others. You can no longer be in the center spot light. But just
as Big Ben gets most of the attention, he could not have
done that one important play without the help of Heinz Ward.
We need Christ to partner with us also in order to make our
winning touchdowns! We can’t do this game without the
help of our Christian team players. God gives us pastors,
preachers, teachers to talk with us and give us the rules to
His game. If the football players didn’t listen to their
coaches, they would not be playing pro footabll. We must
learn to respect the authority of those He puts in our lives.
Our time of study and meditation takes alot of practice in
order to get it just right. It doesn’t all happen over night, or
even in one lifetime. But the most important thing to
remember is to keep doing what you’re doing. It takes
dilegence, patience, time, practice, and endurance. It’s not a
question of ever giving up. Yes, it’s a hard road, but it’s worth
it in the end. Just ask any of the Steelers. They kept their
eyes on the prize and now can say the acheived it! And I
can’t help but believe that they give all the credit to the Lord
for their victory. God honors this.

“For whatever is born of God is victorious over the world; and
this is the victory that conquers the world, even our faith.
Who is it that is victorious over the world but he who
believes that Jesus Christ is the Son of God (who adheres
to, trusts in, and relies on that fact)?” 1 Jn.5:4-5 (Amplified)

Life is not all about football, but it does give us a sense of
comradery and it also gives us a new insight in which to
observe this game. Will you ever watch it the same way now
knowing that your own life is based on the same principles?
Is your life worth the time and effort of learning the stradegy
plays between life and death as much as knowing the rules
of a football game? Get determined to make your own
touchdowns!

To me, I think football is alot more complicated than
learning the True Word of God. At least I know if I make the
right moves and do the plays His way, then I am sure to be
victorious! I no longer just take it in a passive “whatever”
kind of attitude. I am now determined to win!

This reminds me of how passionate people are about their
home teams, but where is their passion for Christ? Is it
lukewarm? I pray that it isn’t because this is what Jesus
says about those who are:

“I know your (record of) works and what you are doing; you
are neither cold nor hot. Would that you were cold or hot! So,
because you are lukewarm and neither cold nor hot, I will
spew you out of My mouth!” Rev. 3:15-16 (Amplified)

What will your scoreboard say when your game is over? Will
Christ spit you out or will He embrace you in His loving
arms?

To be a winner in God’s team is to know you are not a loser!

Simple Steps to Financial Freedom

Posted by admin in Finance + Capital

Almost everyone would like to financial freedom. The million dollar question, pun intended, is how?

I’m a firm believer of understanding the WHY first and then the how will follow.

Why set financial freedom goals? Goals give direction to our lives. If you are married, then share your financial freedom goals with each other. It will help you to manage expectations, time commitments and reduces conflicts. You may want to save up to buy a home and didn’t know your spouse want a long oversea vacation, it will create unnecessary tension.

Most of us set financial freedom goals at the beginning of the year. Yet many fail to follow up simply because they don’t take the necessary steps to make it happen. Here are the steps.

Financial freedom Rule 1 - Choose something that inspires you

Choose something that is important to you. It will keep you motivated to follow through. Don’t choose something just because of someone else’s suggestion. Remember it is your life.

Financial Freedom Rule 2 - State the goal in the positive

For example, “I want to buy a property”, is a positive goal. I will not spend money is a negative goal. Why state goals in the positive? The mind does not and cannot register a negative.

Try this. Don’t think of a pink dog. What happened? I bet you just pictured a pink dog in your mind.

Financial Freedom Rule 3 - Set a date for achieving the goal

A goal is only a wish until you set a date. So now, “I want to own a property by December 2005″ is a real goal. Without a deadline, chances are, it will not happen.

Do not worry about missing a deadline. So what if you miss it. If you aim for the star and you missed, you will still hit the moon. If you aim for the moon, if you missed, you may hit the roof. So aim high.

Financial Freedom Rule 4 - Write it down

Write down your goal and put it up where you can see it daily. Look at your goal list daily until you begin to expect it. Most of us have too much on our minds that we tend to forget the important things. By the time December comes, we wonder what happen to our goals and start again only to fail. This is what I call the “New Year Resolution Syndrome”

Put up the list in places you will see daily like on the computer monitor, mirror, in the car, in your wallet etc.

Financial Freedom Rule 5 - Take action and stay focussed

If you goal is to buy a property, start by looking for locations you like. Check out the prices. Call the real estate agents and visit some property. Stay focussed on your goal and you will find it easy to put aside money to reach it. You will start thinking that I’m saving up to spend on something special.

Financial Freedom Rule 6 - Review your goal

Set up a time frame to review your goals. Check to see if you are getting closer. If not, try to catch up by putting aside less important activities. You may also want to try a different approach. Get the help of your spouse or close friends to help you stay on track.

These steps will help with any goal. It may be to lose weight, get out of debt, save up for your children’s education funds or start a new business.

Take the first step towards your financial freedom goals today.

Dirty Hooligan! What a Crude Street Corner Come-On Taught Me About Direct Response Marketing

Posted by admin in Marketing Tips

Can’t get a date?

No, I mean to your website.

Day in and day out, I see marketers address “filet mignon” prospects like $10 streetwalkers.

How do they expect to get the sale (or the signup, or the download, or the ___) like THAT?

It’s all about converting “ho-hum” browsers to excited, active BUYERS … right?

Hmph. Not that way.

Come with me as I tear through one crude, street corner come-on, showing you how it relates to YOUR direct response website … and how marketing like this can grind sales to a screeching halt.

:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
THE COME-ON
:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

I was walking downtown on business the other day, and out of nowhere I hear:

“HEY!!!

“Ay, can I talk to you?

“Come HERE.

“WHERE YOU GOIN’???!!”

Umm … excuse him? I was “GOIN’” faster.

To get away from the fool.

You probably don’t realize it, but the mechanics of this barbaric come-on are components YOU experience on direct response sites every day.

The sites that cause their visitors’ only “direct response” to be to leave … WITHOUT buying, or opting in.

Can’t see it yet?

Let’s break it down:

“HEY!!!”

This is equivalent to an on-entry alert box pop-up telling me to input my name to “personalize my experience.”

Or one demanding that I subscribe to some ezine I’ve never heard of, authored by a marketer I don’t know from Adam, and harping on about some free bonuses that I either don’t want, or already have.

“Ay, can I talk to you?”

This is an amateurish, garish sales letter with fonts sized way too big, too much going on in the opening, a massive header that never loads, a headline that doesn’t tell me what the @%$^& I’m doing there, and too much use of colors that are WAY too bright!

The letter continues with a desperate spiel about how this is quite likely “the most important letter I’ll ever read”.

(Uhh … right.)

“Come HERE.”

This one’s easy.

“Order TODAY!” “Get it by midnight tonight or you WON’T get it at ALL!” (At least until tomorrow rolls around — right?)

In other words, “buy my useless crap NOW so I can get right to ignoring your refund request as you discover that my CRAP doesn’t work!”

(Can we say “leave the money on the nightstand?” :-/)

“Where you GOIN’???!”

This is yet *another* pop-up window — on exit, now — designed to get me to come up off of my money or e-mail address.

Only this one is so the site owner can hound me relentlessly week after week, with thinly-veiled attempts to make me feel foolish or inferior for not buying on the first visit.

It’s the last desperate reach for ANY form of “action” or desired result from the site.

:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
You’ve Seen the “Crude” Way. Now … What’s the BEST Way?
:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

It’s simple: COURT ME.

Most people don’t go to a website LOOKING to buy something. In contrast, that becomes the result *if* you rub ‘em the right way.

“If.”

Most sites shouldn’t use hard sales language, (like banter about “hot prices” or “amazing specials”), in their opener.

They’re likely scaring prospects away with the very thought.

Unless your prospect is *specifically* coming to buy and you BOTH *know* that (i.e., you run an online catalog), they’ll be like:

“Hot prices?!

“I didn’t come here to buy, I came here to LEARN. What’s up with that?!”

…And will leave you AND your “scaldingly temperatured prices” at the altar.

And for goodness sake, tell how the visitor will benefit BEFORE asking anything of them.

You’ll get more results that way.

If you were walking down the street and someone shoved a drinking glass in your face, shouting:

“Buy this NOW! Hot sale! Here, here, HERE!! TODAY *ONLY*!!!”

…would you buy it?

Or would you eye them like they’d just sprouted a third ear in the middle of their forehead, and sprint away from “the lunatic” as fast as humanly possible?

Hmmm.

I call calamities like this “The Push ‘n’ Shove Principle”.

Make the buying decision *theirs* — not *yours*.

Don’t beat them over the head with “order TODAYs”, or “only an idiot would pass up this offer!!!” insults. (Why would we buy from merchants who imply that we’re idiots if we choose NOT to? Way to build a relationship with the reader, Moron!)

Oy.

Instead, let prospects *convince themselves* by presenting such a flawless list of product benefits that they couldn’t imagine NOT ordering.

And if your target market responds to it, you may want to tell a short story introducing a “painful” situation — before introducing YOUR product as the “soothing” solution later in your copy.

:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
Okay. So What’s This Whole “Courting” Thing?
:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

*I* even thought that an odd word to use as I was writing this. But I put it on down because, if you think about it, the similarities between:

COURTING vs. one-night stands, and

BUILDING RELATIONSHIPS vs. direct selling

…are overwhelmingly obvious. Most sites spring directly into a sales pitch WITHOUT courting visitors a little.

There’s the site that realizes it has to “stroke you” some before expecting to get anything out of you (a sale, an e-mail address, etc.).

Then there’s the site that goes for the jugular immediately upon visiting, with those stupid alert pop-up boxes and discussions of price lists before you understand what they have to OFFER — much less to order.

Take an honest look at YOUR sites now, and ask yourself:

Will my prospects view me as a high class mover and shaker who’s truly interested in serving their needs … FOR THE LONG HAUL?

Or will they view me as a dirty hooligan desperate to be thrown a bone, who’d pimp ‘em like it was the 70’s and my name was “The Mack”?

Yes, I’m sure “Art of War” tactics are effective for some. *I* just don’t want to present myself that way … because it’s not the ONLY way.

If I have to strong-arm a prospect to get ‘em to order a product they don’t WANT or need, it’s tantamount to robbery … and I’m trying to keep my criminal record clean, thanks.

So, remember:

Don’t push ‘em.

Don’t shove ‘em.

RUB ‘em.

THEN they’ll do what you want … and come back for more.

Television and Children’s Development; How Bad is it Really?

Posted by admin in Kids Stuff

Our TV memories can actually parallel our actual lifescary, but true. There are many parents who allow TV and video games to be their “babysitter”, if you will, while they relax, cook dinner, or do other things around the house that need to be done. And while I understand the urge to do this, there are certainly other ways of keeping your children entertained while you perform household chores and duties. Too much television is prominent among both adults and children today. It has become a part of us, in a very real way.

The first time I watched television, that I can remember directly, was Sesame Street. But, fortunately, my parents restricted my television exposure to one hour per day. This is a good recommendation. This kind of restriction does not leave your kids completely void of the opportunity to watch television (which almost all of us enjoy)but this type of restriction does make more time available for your children to be creative, learn, and be activewhich are essential aspects of how a child develops.

It is amazing how television affects the brain. We can try to remember other, real life eventsand the memories just slip away. However, we remember in detail the events and stories we learned in our “TV lives”. For example, I cannot tell you the name of my first or second grade teacherbut I do remember what the first movie I watched was as a kid when my parents bought our first VCR.

I have two sisters and a brother, but they were also allowed only one hour of television per day. We spent the rest of the time playing, reading, practicing dance or piano or basketball. Now we all enjoy reading more than watching TV and are also each very artistic.

An incredibly interesting thing I have noticed that concerns child development in relation to television is that when a child has been watching a lot of TV they have less energy, they do not smile as much, and do not have as much to talk about with their parents and friends.

On the opposite side of things, I have watched children come in from playing outside or reading a book, dancing, building things or coloring and observed that these kids have much more energy, much more to talk about and many more creative ideas. In regard to child development, it is proven that a child’s mind develops better, and more learning and discovery occurs at younger ages when there is less television involved in children’s lives.

Unfortunately, some parents feel they do not have any option. Despite the fact that television can be bad for your kids, many households can not survive unless there is a dual incomeso when the parents get home from work they simply do not have time to play with their kids that much. They feel that their kids have to watch TV to be entertained. Or the babysitter thinks the best way to do his or her job is to stick the kids in front of the TV until you get home.

But there are many other ways, find something or some things that your child enjoys doing and he or she will play with toys, read, or play inside for hoursentertaining themselves without gazing blankly at a screen. There is a way to compromise how much TV your child watches. And there is no better reason than the simple fact their brains will develop more efficiently when such adjustments are madeand I am sure you will feel better about that.

Tummy Fat! Is It Important?

Posted by admin in Hall Of Medical Resources

Tummy fat. Some of us have it, others don’t. Is there anything special about a big belly compared to a large bottom? Well, surprisingly, not all body fat is created equal! According to a study carried out by researchers from MacMaster University, Hamilton, Ontario it seems that gauging your heart attack risk depends on where your fat is, rather that how much fat you have.

These types of findings are not unique to MacMasters. Dr David Heber, Ph.D., from UCLA’s Centre for Human Nutrition reports that distribution of body fat is a more important predictor of heart attack risk than the traditional measurement of Body Mass Index (BMI), which is a measurement based on the ratio between your height and weight.

It appears that a more accurate predictor of the impact body fat has on your health, is your overall body shape. You may be more like an apple or a pear, or evenly shaped top and bottom. You may have large thighs, fat hips and a huge bum and have a lower heart attack risk than someone with skinny legs and a big belly.

A more accurate and telling predictor of heart attack risk, is the waist-to-hip ratio.

What is your waist-to-hip ratio?

Divide your waist measurement by your hip measurement. For example, if your hips measurement is 40 inches and your waist is 34 inches your hip-to-waist ratio is 0.85. If you are a man, that’s great, if you are a woman, that’s OK (but you are right on the limit of healthy).

- A man’s ratio should not be over 0.90

- A woman’s ratio should not be over 0.85

Don’t fight nature

If you were born an apple you will stay an apple and if you were born a pear you will continue to be appear. Accepting your natural body shape is the first step in losing weight. In a study led by Glasgow, Scotland, psychologist Dorothy Hefferman, Ph.D., researchers concluded that women whose actual body shape differs from their desired one may find losing weight frustrating and have more trouble sticking to a weight-loss program as a result.

If this sounds like you, accept your overall shape as nature intended, but pay attention to reducing fat around your middle and tummy areas. Circumference is much more important to your health than how you look in relation to your bust and bottom.

Lens Usage in Landscape Photographs

Digital cameras are not as good for certain photos because they fail to provide certain characteristics. The photographer is able to understand the special purpose of each lens. The use and selection of a proper lens is a crucial part of advanced digital photography techniques for the optimal photograph.

The example of landscape photograph will be looked closely at here. Using the correct lens is essential to have a clear landscape photograph. How do you choose the correct lens for photographing landscapes? Most people use between 20mm and 35 mm as their focal length. For instance, some might prefer to use a 24 mm lens to photograph trees as it allows them to focus on the tree itself.

Digital photography does not have a set of rules. Diligence and know-how will help one to produce superior quality photographs.

Crying, Talking, Sleeping, Walking - Normal Child!

Posted by admin in Healthy Stuff

If your child is a sleep walker, it can be quite disturbing to see them in what can often be a distressed state. Sleep walking disorder (also known as somnambulism) occurs in approximately 15% of the child population. It is a series of complex behaviours that are initiated during slow wave sleep and results in the child getting up and walking around. It occurs during the rapid eye movement (REM) phase of sleep, which is also the dream stage of sleep. This disorder is often accompanied by vivid and frightening hallucinations, as the sleeper brings his/her dreams with them into the waking world. These can also be referred to as sleep or night terrors and are believed to be far more common than figures actually suggest. These terrors are displayed as a result of “confusional arousals” from sleep, where the child will be partially awake - yet deeply asleep - both at the same time! They apparently believe they have somewhere to go, something to do, or someone to meet.

In some of the more extreme cases they can lead to a frantic attempt to escape as if threatened. They will have glassy eyes, pick at the duvet, make obscure body movements and walk around the house blankly. Sleep walkers may also avoid looking at another person who attempts to communicate with them.

The child may be only troubled by a mild form of sleep walking/night terrors, in which case you’ll probably see that they simply sit up in bed and look around the room with a blank or confused expression, before returning to sleep. Child sleep walking is more frequent among boys and peaks in children aged 6 to 12. Parents should remove anything from the bedroom that could be hazardous or harmful to a child that is prone to sleep walking.

A sleep walker usually remember little to nothing of the nights events and this can lead to the child feeling embarrassment, anxiety and confusion when they are told about their behaviour. Emotional support is essential, therefore a parent should never make their child feel in any way ashamed about their episodes. Shouting at them, or attempting to awaken them through shaking will only enhance any panic they may already be experiencing and could have a damaging effect. Gentle persuasion and guidance are far more advisable.

It is thought that a full bladder may act as one of the sleep walking causes, and it does have some credibility, so fluids should be restricted before bedtime, ensuring that they use the toilet also. Watching TV in the bedroom immediately before falling asleep has some statistical backing as another source of the sleep walking/night terrors, so a happy medium probably needs to be found. Crucially, it should be remembered that, for the most part, child sleep walking is outgrown before puberty, so the key is to do what should come naturally anyway; that is provide love, support and understanding for the child.

Halo 2 Tricks

Posted by admin in Pastime

There are many tips and tricks when it comes to the popular Xbox game Halo 2. You can easily get the upper hand on your friends when playing the game if you know how to utilize these handy tricks, as well as make it through the levels much easier. The most obvious tip is to practice all of the time. If you are by yourself, just go through the multiplayer maps just to get a feel where everything is located. That way, you will know where all of the good weapons and hiding places are when you are competing against your friends.

It is also a good idea to stay on high ground. This makes it much easier to spot someone and jump on them unsuspectingly and easily take them out. Surprise attacks are a very good way to get an easy kill. You also have to remember not to rule out the use of grenades. Often people will forget that they possess these great little balls of destruction.

There are several skulls available to you in Halo 2 that allow for special modes in the game play. The following is a walkthrough of how to get the Blind Mode skull:

At the beginning of Outskirts, jump on top of the light above the door with a crouch jump, then jump to the left platform. If you turn to your left and go down the long dark corridor, there should be a skull, pick it up. It will say blind and your screen should flash black for a while. You will not be able to see your weapon, body, shields, ammo or radar in this mode. To get rid of it, turn off your Xbox or save and quit. Go to Campaign and select level and choose Cairo Station. Skip the cinematics then save and quit. Go to Outskirt and everything should be back.

There will be more tips and walkthroughs for the skulls in articles to come. Or you can find many more good tips and hints at www.halo2hints.com
